August 25, 2024Qom University was established in late 1979 by the approval of the Islamic Revolutionary Council, in line with the objectives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and with the aim of training specialized and committed human resources. In 1980, it officially began admitting students in two undergraduate fields: Judicial Sciences and Islamic Theology Education, selecting students from seminary graduates.
On June 21, 1997, by the approval of the Council for the Expansion of Higher Education, its status changed to “Qom University.” The university continued its activities with 6 undergraduate programs, 5 master’s programs, and 1 Ph.D. program. The new statute of Qom University was officially approved on January 15, 2000, and since then, it has continued its operations under the regulations of the Ministry of Science.
In a short period, the number of academic programs at Qom University significantly increased. Currently, Qom University operates with 7 faculties and academic centers, 3 research and technology centers, 34 educational and research departments, and offers 77 academic programs at Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. levels. The university continues its scientific, educational, and cultural activities and is steadily growing in both quantity and quality.
Admission of International Students at All Academic Levels
For the academic year 2025–2026, Qom University accepts international students in all fields except Law, Computer Engineering, and Accounting.
