July 29, 2024Ferdowsi University of Mashhad is a national university under the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology of Iran, named after Hakim Abolghasem Ferdowsi, the Iranian poet and epic writer. The proposal for its establishment dates back to before the 1940s, making it the third university founded in Iran. The university celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2019. During the Pahlavi era, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad was academically affiliated with Georgetown University. With 13 faculties, 8 research centers, over 25,000 domestic and international students, and 814 faculty members, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad is considered one of the largest universities in Iran and the scientific hub of the eastern part of the country. Additionally, it is one of the best universities in the country in terms of welfare facilities.
Ferdowsi University of Mashhad generally enrolls students in two specific periods, the first and second semesters. The admission requirements for international students include both general and specific conditions. Among the specific conditions, GPA requirements , age limits, and possession of a Persian language proficiency certificate (Azfa) are the most important criteria for international student admission. Tuition fees vary based on the level and field of study.
